Will this work on a '93?
It works on my 91 and have also used it on my OBD II cars. On the 91 have pulled codes and recorded readings while running in addition to using to erase codes.
I also have a 1993 , Im wondering what On Board system she has ? Im pretty sure its prior to OBDll ? Actually Id like to get readings while running , such as to a screen of some kind ? The 1993 has the computer which can be opened, & back in the day folks changed out the chip to affect different performance s, so I am told ?
Does anyone have a suggestion on what kind of scanner code tool to get that also has the ability to erase the error code versus just reading it?
Thanks,
Mike
I wouldn't bother. You can erase the code by pulling the battery. You can read the codes with a paperclip if that is all you want. It is a lot cheaper than the code reader which is a glorified paper clip and will do what you have just stated. OTOH, if you want to fix something, get live data with a scanner that will read what the ECM sees. I have an older Auto X-ray 1000, a Snap On MT2500 and a 1320 Electronics one. All can read data so that helps.

I am pretty sure it is OBD 1 and not OBD 2. If there is a chip you can get someone to program it on a dyno to enhance performance. The ones you get off the shelf are "One sizes fits all" or does nothing.

Since selling my 91 I've since used the Actron CP9690 on my 95 and worked fine pulling and erasing codes and confirmed the 02 sensor was the cause of an issue I was having. As I posted earlier, I used it on the 91 to pull real time information, but never needed to do that on the 95, yet.
I would pull it just to get used to doing it so that it is easier when you need to. It is easier to learn without pressure of the engine problem than with.

That might be proactive as you say to have a comparison to readings if I do have an issue in the future. Thank you for the suggestion.
