you can do it, but if you use the oem ECM you will deal with the programming issues that are inherent to the Gen2 family of ECM's. There is broader tuning support for the later GM ECM's. Having a stock harness and ECM, (especially if in hand already) keeps the cost down. Having to go new (whether using the stock ECM or EFI Connection's conversions) is going to cost.
