Default Alarm question

The alarm on my 93 vert is driving me nuts.! The car is parked in my garage and several times per week will activate for no reason. This happens with the keys in the house and even when I leave them on the console? Can someone explain the process to deactivate the alarm for me? I never go anywhere in it where I am away from it so dont really need the alarm- Where I live we all leave our keys in the cars!!! Thanks for any advice

Do you use your FOB ( PKE system) to lock and unlock the doors.

Consider putting the PKE in sleep mode.

Check out the door switches and door lock switches in the doors for high contact resistance.

Just a off the cuff suggestions without looking at the books. I would need to know more, like how do you turn it off.

door locks and unlocks through the fob. Ive never used key to lock I'll have to look up how to put PKE in sleep mode .sounds like that may be best option. One oddity is the fob door button doesnt do anything when pushed. maybe the fob is bad as well although when keys are in house and alarm goes off maybe not thanks

Check your door switches. The plunger tip can be pulled out to readjust them.

The alarm is armed whenever you lock the doors electrically, whether using the fob, or using the electric switch in the doors. To not arm the alarm you can either not lock the car or use the manual locks. If you hold the door button down (standing outside next to the door) about five or ten seconds you should hear a clackclack sound. If you don't hear that you have a problem somewhere. I agree with everyone else, probably the door shut switches need adjustment/replacement.

I will add that leaving the keys in the car will result in the fob ceasing to transmit, which will make the car think you have walked away with them, and result in the doors locking and the alarm being on (assuming everything is working correctly).
