Default Electric pump conversion signal wire?

1996 LT-4

There are a million ways to skin this cat, but what have you guys used to turn the water pump relay on? Id like to avoid fishing all the way into the dash. What is keyed hot under the hood and close the the battery? Just run a scotch lock? Wondering everyone's choices before I take the plunge. Ive just been pulling the fuse on the Mezziere OEM wireing but thats getting old after 2 days! lol

Your probably going to have to back pin connectors until you find a switched hot wire. I can't recommend piercing wires as that can lead to grounds. Since your using a relay you don't need much power at least for the switch side of the relay. You will need at least 7 amps for the water pump though.

Just to share with you an idea I tried to install a delay after stop relay that continued to run the pump for about a minute after engine shut off. Since I needed a relay anyways why not? It should really help cooling at the strip between runs. So I found a cheap electro-mechanical relay and set it up for 60 seconds delay after shutdown. Problem I had is the electro-mechanical relay was buzzing all the time when energized. So I started to look at solid state delay after stop relays. But they are more in the $100 range.

Just thought I should share that with those relaying there electric water pumps. Some may find a reasonable relay and share it here.

Hope this helps.

Yeah I was thinking the air pump was a good idea since I'm using slick headers making it obsolete anyways. My only concern was if it was only energized when in use intermittently?

Secondly, I'm concerned as the micro fuse housing on the Mezziere pump is slightly melted already?!?
