The key assembly is at the top on the right hand side ( usual ),my p problem is connecting the actuator rod to the key assembly that is located on the left side of colum by the blinker switch. Their is a cover in my way . the actuator rod comes from the ignition switch that is mounted on top of steering colum . I got that .. But connecting the other end ???
were you making a repair, or did it just stop working and now there is no effort. if that's the case I would Hazard to Guess that Either the Rack gear or rack has Broken and the Steering Wheel needs to come off and top of column would need to come apart.

That's not good . my problem started when my dash filled with smoke when I killed it . it started back no problem. Weeks later I turned to accessories .when I turned back the key fell over , I had nothing except the radio plays all the time now . lol. I changed the lock cylinder. No good , same thing . dropped the steering column changed the electric ignition switch . everything looked good , when I tried to start all worked except it did not start. When I released the key it went back to nothing . the actuator rod has a flat gear that goes into the steering column and connect s to the key assembly ( I guess) . How do I connect the two ?
When you installed the lower switch did you time it to the upper. The ignition switch on the bottom when bought new at store came with a plastic pin on top that locks in the off position. So the key should be out in a locked position. Align the rod on switch tighten down remove plastic pin top and bottom should be timed
