Hi all, just reinstalled the c-beam on the car and went to put the driveshaft back in. I forgot to mark it when removing it. Now sure if it helps but i kept the driveshaft and diff yoke in the same orientation upon removal at least. When I went back to try to reinstall it,I couldn't get the transmission end to seat the same way I took it off. I checked the GM FSM and it mentioned a black paint "spot" on the driveshaft and a yellow paint "spot" on the diff yoke. Now not only does black "spot" on the driveshaft look like a smear but the yellow "spot" on the yoke looks more like a small "arc". Anyways I want to know that Im looking at the right thing. The first photo below shows the diff yoke the way it was upon removal of drive shaft. Is that yellow "arc" that is opposite the red "arc" what GM calls a yellow "dot"? Its the only yellow I see so I assume so but please correct me if wrong. Second photo shows the diff yoke in the orientation that will allow the end of the driveshaft that goes into the transmission end seat flush into the transmission end without issue. Notice orientation of the yellow "arc". Now the third photo shows the driveshaft loosely set without being bolted down. The diff yoke is in the same position as it was in the second photo. The black "spot" is on the left of the giant yellow "smear" on the driveshaft. Is this the correct orientation to reinstall the driveshaft? The black smear on the driveshaft is opposite of the yellow "arc" on the diff yoke. The manual asks for the black and yellow paint marks to be as close to 180 degrees from each other as possible. Before bolting anything down I want to assume the orientation its set in is correct. This is my frst time messing with the driveshaft. Thank you and I hope that made sense. Apologies if the photos sucked but it was hard to get the photos from down there.
I totally the transmission output shaft, yokes and drive shaft weren't balanced as an assembly at the factory. The d/s assy is balanced. The yokes should be balanced. It doesn't matter which way you put 'em together.
Oh thank God! I had a feeling I was overthinking. Happens alot because I want to make sure everything is done right. Was worried there would be vibration, etc. from installing this wrong. I had read an old thread on this but had conflicting results so I ditched it and posted my own. Thank you guys.

I read the manual as well. It says to put the black square or mark 180 from the yellow on the diff. They likely said this because there may be a balance issue otherwise. If there is, just unmount and mount it 180.
My 96 has the yellow mark and a heavy black square on the driveshaft, it is 180 opposite.
I have seen a 1993 diff that has a balance weight on the outside of the diff outer seal.
