I just bought a 93 base coupe. I did not receive any key fobs for the remote entry and I discovered I can start the car without the key. The column or steering wheel do not lock? Can I get fobs and program them and how do I correct the keyless start?
The keyless start is not factory, no idea what to do about that. It may have been done because the PO couldn't find a key that would work because of the anti theft features.
As for the fobs, you can get them on eBay, but they are very expensive. Before you order one, check fuses 26, 40 and 42. Then go through the programming procedure (in your owners manual) and make sure everything happens the way it should right up until you are told to bring the fob in range. If the light doesn't begin to blink you (probably) have a bad PKE module.
You didn't happen to buy a stolen car by chance? Just saying it's the first thing that comes to mind. E Bay sells key fobs for around $139 there's a way to use a voltmeter set on ohms to figure out what letter code you need to have to get keys cut.
Previous owners on mine lost fob and keys and I had to by fob and figure out how to get new keys.
Thanks for the info. based on the car fax, auto check and title its not stolen. I'm guessing the keys have just been lost over the years or the security system malfunctioned and they disabled it. I'll just watch for a new fob.
One of my ‘93’s has a key that is so worn, that I can pull it without turning the ignition all the way off. It will also start as long as I don’t turn the switch all the way off. I had a pair of new keys cut and this isn’t case with them.
I would at least have new ignition key made
My fob was bought from Corvette Central as it turns out their discontinued. Seen the empty cases on eBay for $20 hilarious.

Insbroker... Insurance Broker.
Haven't you all watched gone in 60 seconds?
They take a car that is wrecked, take all the ID marks off it... then steal it's twin. Place the identifiers on the "good" stolen car. A bit harder to pull off these days, but... dude is an insurance broker.
I would be very suspicious if I looked at a car in this condition.
