Racing Tranny.
I am looking for a good racing tranny that could alos double as a daily driver. Can any sugest makes or models? I was told that there was a 4L80E that was good. I have a B&M shift kit in my 4L60E. I want it to be able to handle about 500hp+ at the engine. My goal is 400-420 rwhp.
Its not the HP, its the torque. There have been many threads on which tranny can hold up to the power output of our modded engines. A 700r4/4L60 can be beefed up to handle it, but you just have to find the right shop to do it. Eventually, the tranny will fail, even if its rated to handle more than youre putting out.
I would use a TH400/4L80, heavily beefed up. Thats what i'm looking at for the future.

Sounds like a couple members could help you.
I put in a turbo-400 pretty much for race. No overdrive. Drivable around town, but sucks on long highway drives due to high revs. Check out the discussion about gear vendors overdrive option. Good luck!
What did you do to convert the speedo drive? I want to do the same thing less the overdirve. I did one already, But I ended up putting an aftermarket mechanical speedo in. I wanted to retain the VSS thingy on the next conversion.
