Default C4 section

Was there at one time a section dedicated to C4 LS swaps? If so, is it still active?

Thanks

I don't think so.
You better be quiet, LS swaps are the devil around here... Haha.

P.S. DO IT!!! It's a ton of fun.

There are plenty of threads on it. Some get muddied up in pissing matches others actually useful. It's a little tricky getting everything working but there are several I know of.

For for disclosure, I bought mine with the swap completed. It's an '84 and the guy I bought it from did a great job. C5 brakes, TKO 600, LQ9 6.0 w/ LS3 top end, small cam, D44 3.45 swap, 411 pcm, aftermarket gauge cluster and 17" C6Z06 replica rims for $8500.

He modified the K member to use C5 engine mounts.
The swap was done like the link below (besides mine being a manual trans.)

Ive looked at it every whichway and the only benefit an LS swap gets you is lighter weight - if you go the alum lsx route which most here dont.

throw enough boost at anything and anything will be fast

I put an LS in my car and my ex girlfriend came back and said she couldn't live without me. Little does she know, her sister can't live without me either.

I have a really long LS swap thread. It's a 6.0 with LS3 top end. Hauls the mail pretty good

I think and engine swap section would be warranted.

Right now the the technical info in the build threads is scattered all though the C4 general and tech section, which makes researching more difficult. Would be good to have it all in one place.

It might also help weed out the people who come into LS swap threads and questions and start arguing about doing them because C4's are perfect from the factory, lol.

Agreed a swap section or at least a group of stickies encapsulating the swaps with links to the thread would be beneficial.

There are a lot more benefits than just weight savings. Ease of tuning, wicked power from inexpensive and vastly stronger factory parts, a plethora of aftermarket parts with a sector that is still expanding, easy to work on under the hood... etc.

LS swaps aren't for everyone, I get it, but for many of us we would like a platform that isn't maxed out or at its limits after a ton of $$$$$$$ has been spent.

The 6.0 is a stout engine stock, put a good head on it and the equivalent of an old hotcam you have quick st car
They arent my thing but they certainly pack a hell of a good punch. They can survive on a lot less cam timing than a 23 deg head Gen 1 can.

I only have seen one LS swapped C4 and like... it definitely seemed equally as shoe horned in there as a regular 350. Somethings seemed easier to get to... drivers side plugs for example. But the passengers side looked like a ***** to change. But the same goes for the 6.0 in both my trucks so lol.

For me, it would be a waste for what I want. For a real racer, it's somewhat cheaper to go fast. But then you get into the whole cost of aggravation getting the thing working which i don't have the time for. That being said most will never need more than a factory 6 bolt block so there is something about that too. It really depends on your end.

I love seeing them but at the same time a cammed gen 1 sounds a little better to my ears. Probably the firing order though lol. I've dealt with stupid expensive builds on both sides and the fact comes down to if you want crazy power levels and to be reliable, the factory parts on the LS are a hell of a lot more up to the task than Gen 1 stuff.
