Default Where does this go ?

Finally got rear hatch open . This wire is loose and just sitting there .I ripped the carpet up looking for the other end . Anyone recognise it ? It goes to the solenoid and relay to open the hatch.

This looks a whole lot like the connection for the rear speakers (it would plug into the amplifier in the rear). The location is wrong, though-it should come out by the speaker, not by the rear hatch. Also, it looks pretty chewed up. Not sure I'd trust it, if it were me I'd be running new wires for speakers.

If your car has a key fob that opens/unlocks doors etc, it may hook up to the hidden "sensor unit" (for lack of better term) mounted against rear interior wall of cargo area. It's a rectangular looking device.

The OP's Profile says he has an '85.

Bfenty got it right. It's the speaker connector. The wire colors confirm it. So does the 4 terminals in a 6-cavity metripack 280 grey connector. I remember this detail from my 85 speakers.
