Looks like we're rowing the same boat.

It's those six words right there that got me roped into building all new cabinets for our entire house...yes, kitchen included! I think our wives have read the same book. Showing your spouse what you are capable of doing may not always be the best idea.

Congrats on the retirement! I retired early like a few folks and LOVE it. If you can swing it, why not? That was over three years ago. You might not be able to sleep longer, but like mentioned as well, you will sleep easier not having to deal with office politics and other office BS, reports, conference calls etc... I worked for a defense contractor and seemed like I was always deployed to the middle east which I hated or some other three world country. Now, my biggest decision in the morning is what I'm going to have for breakfast.

I've been retired three full days now. Seems like those three were shot out of a cannon. My wife bought me a tee shirt that states: Retired 2020 Not My Problem Anymore. Right on the money.

Managed over 20 toolmakers/machinists for a major corporation for over 15 years. between the endless meetings, constant performance review writing, financial reporting and all the other corporate crap that goes with the territory, I was shot. I left that world in 2014 and went to work for my buddies auto shop where we did everything from resto mods and customs to full on collision repair work. That lasted until last July when I had a "mild" heart attack requiring four stents. Now at 61 I am a part time swap driver for a local chevy dealer and my main focus is my wife & kids, my house & car and my outdoor friends the birds and squirrels !!! Life is short, we need to know when to say ENOUGH BS and live.

Good on ya, take it easy and enjoy life in the SLOW lane.

That's awesome! I need to get a T-shirt like that as well. Enjoy the good life!
