The engine should be in my hands tomorrow or Friday. I'm delivering it to Tom Wong's shop (Wong's Performance Engineering in Vancouver, WA) for the install and tune. The install will likely start next week.
Yeah...Good luck with that sleeping in thing. I pop out of bed like a jack-in-the-box just as early if not earlier than I used to. Of course, now I'm actually excited to get up and dig into the days events. Sometimes I think I work harder now than I did when I had to head out to the salt mines every day!
You may not sleep longer, but you WILL sleep easier!
I retired eight years ago. I loved my work and continued consulting until this year, but I do not miss the BS. If companies were better in this regard, many old experienced folks would continue to work longer.
No, not my vette, me! Today is my last day of punching the old time clock! Now to see if I can sleep in tomorrow...

Congrats. 447 days to go for me, but who's counting? They started giving me restricted stock several years ago, I don't get to keep it unless I stay till 65 or they fire me. God I wish they would fire me.
Congratulations! You'll find it real hard not to spend money on your Vette, now that you have extra time on your hands. At least your car will appreciate the extra attention
If I could afford the insurance I'd be retired today.
!
after I retired in 2015 at 68 I did 2 years of contracting in Connecticut and Ohio. Met a lot of nice people and corvetters and saw a lot of the country I normally don’t get to see.
know that I have the time, I use the va for my healthcare needs, except for a couple of surgeries. Each year the va saves me thousands of $$ over private care and prescriptions. And there are no insurance policy premiums to pay for.
Congrats. Myself, I retired this last year and I'm still waking up and out of bed like I did before. Now the big thing, I keep hearing about all this free time - what's that? It seems like there's a whole lot more on my list of things to do than there ever was when I was still working.
I was 60 years old and it was 12 years yesterday that I threw in the towel. never looked back. fortunate that the company I worked for paid my social security from 60 to 62 (a little golden parachute for the working stiffs). i'm enjoying everyday, and so busy doing nothing, that I don't have time for anything -
