Long story short: I had the motor in my 92' LT1 rebuilt at a engine rebuilding shop. The crankshaft hub needed to be put back on - Looking through the parts I had, didn't find it so I bought one off eBay. Apparently there are 2 that could be for the motor & I got the wrong one & had to have it cut off.
I got another hub from a local wrecking yard. The shaft was noticeably shorter. Same result, Even tried to get it pressed on using this hydraulic jaws of life tool. What am I doing wrong? This one is from a 93' or 94' motor which I researched to be sure I got the correct one.
A lot of threads regarding trouble with the removal of the hub - not installing
The 92 -95 are the same. The 96-97 are shorter because of the crank sensor interupter, required for OBD2. Hub fit seems to vary from : "Oh, that was easy to its never coming off". Using the correct puller is important. The pulley holes are not symmetrical. A light lubrication can aid in R&R
