Ive read lots of opinions on the 3000 rpm vibration .I bought a 93 base 6 speed , it has the dredded vibration. The previous owner put in a Carolina stage 2 SMF kit. My question is does the flywheel bolt on just one way or do the bolt holes work any way I thought it only bolted up 1 way but then I read it could go on any way. if so i dont know if it was pre balanced it may have been put on wrong.going to pull inspection cover off tonight to see it there is weight added. so before i pull this tranny I would like to know even if the Flywheel was weight matched to the old flywheel could it have been put on wrong ??? what do you think guys .please help
It can "bolt up" anyway, but there should be (not saying there is) a locating dowel in the crank flange that matches up with a hole in the flywheel which only allows the flywheel to be bolted onto the crankshaft in one place.

The back half of the LT1 is externally balanced. On a application specific flywheel weight is incorporated in it. Flywheel for internally balanced engine requires a plate with balance weight sandwiched between flywheel and crank hub.
Zf6 rattle or vibration is more noticeable with solid flywheel than dual mass.
My retired mechanic friend keeps saying I cant believe you bought a corvette ,your gonna be working on it all the time bla bla bla.. Finally his daughter said dad your just jealous cause Chuck has a Corvette.. Smart kid!! Drove it 2 years and already had to put a battery in it ,Giggity

i had the same issue as you.. installed a spec 2 clutch and Fidanza flywheel.. flywheel was neutral balanced.. dropped trans match balance new flywheel to old dual mass.. viola! Problem solved no more vibration.. happens same time 3k on up was a horrible vibration.. balance and you will be fine
