I put a 52mm TB on my l98 tonight. I went through all the TPS and AIC procedures and when I fired it up, it sounded like a vacuum cleaner. This TB had an extra port on the passenger side that I somehow missed even though it is huge. It is just above the coolant line spot. On the 48mm that came off, this spot is blank.
I'll check it out in a few minutes but the one that came off didn't have anything there. I drove it to work today and at first it ran great with no codes. After a few miles, it started runing like crap and codes 33 and 34 set. I stalled out at a set of lights and after re-starting, it ran fine for the rest of the drive.
I just happened to notice your post. If the TB is the wrong one or you can't make it work, you can send it back. I still have your check which I will return.

Greg
Greg,
do you know what this TB is off of? I cleaned it, replaced all the gaskets, set the base idle, and set the TPS voltage. It looks the same as the one that came off except for the extra vacuum port and the EGR vacuum port looked to be blocked off on the inside (with JB weld or something).
I think the Camaros had this extra port on the pass side but I'm not sure. All the aftermarket TB's have a port on that side. Run a Search for "BBK". Last time I remember reading this was in a thread about an extra port on the BBK TB.
I already blocked it off and I think the problems I am having are not related to the TB that Greg sold me. It's just that past experience has proved that the problem is usually found in the last place I worked.
I think I need to park the car and go through it. New cap, rotor, wires, O2 sensors, check wiring.....................the list goes on and on
I also just bumped the tps voltage up to .59 and the idle seems a little better. Does the voltage have to be changed after mods or is the .54 good for all? This car is bored .60 over, bigger cam, ported heads and a few other mods. does that affect any of the tuning procedures?
Yea the TPS 'should' be still good betweek .54-.56v.
I think .59is a bit too high..
By the sound of things, I had a problem close to yours few months ago.
I had a nastyhiss form the engione by the TB, and couldnt figure it out.
Took off the whole TP Intake, runners, put them back on, still there..
Turned out it was the damn PCV/Manifold Vacuum aluminum 'rail' that sits under the injectors on the drivers side. It had a crack on one of the nipples that connect to the PCV Valve. I replaced it and , vacuum is gone...
Can't believe it was soo simple though.. lol
The PCV is a whole different issue. I think it is ok but it looks strange. The passenger side is plumbed into the TB. The drivers side has a PCV and is plumbed into the manifold under the TPI. Doesn't that create a vacuum on both sides of the engine? Wouldn't that make the PCV not work. I am used to seeing a vent on one valve cover and the pcv on the other. ( I think I will put this into it's own post)
On the problem form the original post, the trip home from work sucked. The car would barely run. No new codes but it still had 33, 34, and 36. I checked the O2 sensor and it was blinking strangely. It is supposed to blink steady but this was intermittant. BLINK 5 seconds BLINK BLINK 10 seconds..... and so on..... I had a code 44 last week but nothing this week for the O2 sensors but I think they might be part of the mess.
