Got involoved in the topic on TB bypass. Went to look last night at how much work. When I got around the passenger side I noticed a piece of TB Gasket sticking out. It slide right out (about 1 1/2"). It was dried out. Obviously I need a new gasket but the car is running fine. Now the TB has 3 gaskets altogether do we normally replace all 3? I can get the one TB gasket at the local Chevy place but for the other 2 I'll have to order the 3 piece package.
Now here's the kicker about a month ago I cleaned the TB with TB cleaner.I didn't take it off as it looked pretty clean.I just squirted some in and around and rubbed it dry with a cloth. Coincidence?????
I bought the gaskets at auto zone for 4.99. It came with the upper and lower gasket, 2 different TB to plenum gaskets, IAC gaskets and another one that I could not ID.
3 Gaskets????
I've had mine off plenty of times and there is only 1 gasket.
Also, there is no real 'work' involved in the TB bypass.
All you need to do is check the 2 coolant lines going to your TB, and connect them via 2 hose. I used my existing hose as it reached without any problems. Took about,.. ummm 2 minutes....
