Default Passive keyless entry problem

Hi I have the passive keyless entry going on when I get into my car. Do not have a fob to deactive it, but for some reason it keeps going on. Had to disconnect the battery and wait till the next day before I could get it started. Used the car worked fine no problems, again I got into the car it became activated, this time tried another key and it started. Help, can this system be disconnected.

You can disable the system, but the owners manual states that you need the key fob in order to do it:

If I’m not mistaken your problem is that the car will not start when you get in. I don’t think the problem is with the Passive Key Entry System, it is a problem with the VATS system. The Passive key system unlocks the door when you approach and locks the door as you walk away. The VATS is the security system that uses the resistor in the key to disarm the security system and start the car. I think my believe is confirmed by the car starting with a different key. Try cleaning the resistor pellet contacts on the bad key with a pencil eraser.

Default Passive keyless entry problem

Thanks for the suggestions on correcting my problem. I tried cleaning the key contact with a eraser no luck so far. The car started with no problem then while as standing outside the car the horn beeped and the system became armed. As I have said I do not have a key fob on the panel display it read passive keyless entry I then tried using the door key to try to shut the system down it seemed to work at first. Then as I was driving the passive keyless appeared on the display panel and my digital speed and fuel gauge went blank and the off button for AC started to blink. Got home turned off the now no start only a clicking noise and the AC off button blinking disconnected the battery it's a wait and see what's next. Open for any suggestions thanks.

Start by making sure your battery is fully charged and in good condition. Make sure the cables are getting a good contact. It sounds like you have a combination of a VATS problem and an electrical gremlin. Try removing fuse 26 and see if that changes the situation. Check the door closed switches, lubricate them and make sure they are adjusted right. What do you mean by "the system became armed"?

When I mentioned "armed" the horn beeped while I was outside of the car and when I opened the door the alarm sounded. When driving the passive key came up on the display panel and when I stopped I couldn't restart the car.

As jmeyer58 said, the PKE system shouldn't have anything to do with starting the car (but I suppose anything could be possible), removing that fuse might help eliminate part of the problem. You very well might have more than one problem going on. If the PKE light comes on like that it could point to a failure of the PKE module. By the way, just for fun you might do a thorough search to make sure there isn't a fob somewhere in the car? A couple of members have reported finding them in the door pockets or other out of the way storage areas.

MarkKlien. Thanks for the suggestions I pulled #26 fuse, reconnected the battery. So far I have tried to start the car four times and so far it has started everytime. I did look for the fob everywhere I could possibly
think it was hidden/lost no luck in finding it but I tried. Hopefully pulling the fuse did the trick will when try it again tomorrow. Oh by the way no passive keyless entry showing up again so far.
Thanks

Default First PKE problem now VATs problem HELP!

Had problem with pke system going on by itself, also car not starting. I did the following per your inputs: pulled fuses #26 and fuse #40 no more PKE messages coming up on info panel. Also added a bypass kit to eliminate the possiblity that I had a ignition switch chip problem. The car started every time I tried it great it's fixed. So I took the car out and went to work with it started right up again no messages or anything wrong ran great. Just before pulling into the parking lot the dash went blank and I started to hear clicking noise coming from the dashboard. Before pulling the fuses I had this happen would let it sit and it would reset itself like there's no problem. Thought this all had to do with the PKE system now I can't start the car, pulled the battery, tried locking the doors and waiting fifteen minutes before opening again no change just constant clicking sound. Is there any way to completely disconnect the Vats system so it can drive it home and not have flat bedded.
Thanks for any suggestions

Is your door chime working with key in ignition and switch off? If so, does it work with chime when it won't start? Could be an ignition cylinder failure. As far as the PKE system, try putting it in learn mode with the factory proceedure, if it doesn't work, it would indicate codes in your CCM ( you need to check this regardless as a VATS issue will store a code) clear the CCM codes after writing them down. Try entering the PKE programming mode again, if it doesn't go into programming mode, there could be a hidden key fob or a bad PKE module. Do you have the stock radio in it or aftermarket?

Im thinking of your charging sys. or connections. Grounds can be flakey on corvettes.

Well here goes, got a ride to work this morning first thing i did was go to my car, opened it and reached in turned the key car started like nothing was wrong. End of the day did the same started right up drove it home no signs of any problems. Makes me wonder when it's going to happen again. Have no idea what to look for, it's like there's nothing wrong with the car. Until
