Default LT4 Question

Is the standard cam for the LT4 what is called the LT4 hot cam or is the LT4 hot cam an after market of optional cam. If it's not the standard cam, how much would one increase the hp and torque. Considering a CE LT4 but don't get much encouragement from people who have owned C4's.

The factory cam in an LT4, isn't the LT4 hotcam. You'd be seeing a bump of about 30 horsepower.

I had a C4 LT4 and it was a blast to drive, very sorry I sold it, problem is I was running out of room, had it not been for the new vehicle I would have kept it. One of the best cars I have owned.

I have a CE LT4 and agree. It is one of the best cars I have owned (and I have had a lot).

C4's … especially the 1996 LT4 were great cars!! But every car , regardless of mfgr., or model has its weak or difficult portions as part of its inherent design. The C4 LT4 is no different in this respect. You can easily research any concerns on this forum, or YouTube, or google... You will get some large variations in opinions, but rest assured that the '96 LT4 is a sound purchase, especially at the current pricing / market values. I think there is no car in the world , with this much performance and technology for anywhere near this price point- except the C5 Corvette.

"Hot" meaning performance. The Hot Cam was the GM SCCA showroom stock racing cam.

I had a 96 LT1 coupe. I loved that car. It ran great. The LT4 is an even greater car. It's the most refined C4 made. I would not hesitate to buy another 96 Corvette in either the LT4 or LT1. I had to replace the opti around 90 K miles and it was no trouble. The only thing is factory replacements were available then.
