Hi all, '93 Base hatchback with well over 150k on it. I just got this car a few weeks ago. Been going through it, front seal was leaking so a one piece oil pan was installed when that happened. Just replacing worn, old stuff. However, I've reached the brakes and I believe the previous owner had "work" performed at an SW FL tire shop and it looks like they may have installed the incorrect brake vacuum booster when firing what I believe was a fairly decently sized parts cannon at the brake issue.
The master cylinder is tight in the pics. The lock nut doesn't get a full thread. I have a set of Wilwood 13" fronts on the way, will be here in 3 days. I need to get this sorted. Thanks for looking and any help.

Chris- welcome to the forum! You are at the right place for help and congrats on your new Corvette which will be you newest, greatest obsession!
I read your post but did not see any specific problems identified or questions. If you elaborate, you will get the help you need.
I apologize. Thanks for the kind welcome and I'm already liking the car a lot. Sometimes the forest and the trees ya know?
The issue is the master cylinder doesn't fit correctly on the reman booster that someone put in it. I think it's from a late 80's Corvette. The mounting studs on the booster are too short for the thickness of the MC mount The lock nuts aren't getting full threads. Something just isn't right.

The front brake kit came a couple days early. This was by far the easiest install to date. The rear kit won't be here until wifey won't notice the money missing
This car was a daily driver for over 15 years. It needs work. A lot. Little by little I will make everything around the drive train new again and then rebuild or re-power with an LS. Can someone give a definitive part number for the brake booster for my car? It's an '93. I'm getting 2 different boosters listed and I can't tell which one is the correct part because mounting bolt specs aren't listed anywhere.
If I was a betting man I would say wrong booster. Here are some pictures of my '96 set up
Thank you for the pics jmeyer58. It looks like the studs on yours are at 3/8"-1/2" longer than what I have but the boosters look identical other than that. OK. They replaced the MC as well. It connects perfectly. I just wish there was some way to acquire the schematics of the booster or any booster for that matter. I've yet to find one. I'm just going to order the part number that comes back and see. That's all I can do at this point. I'm in no hurry whatsoever. Thanks for looking
It looks like they may have set the studs in to deep. You can remove the master and undo the two nuts that jam the stud in place. Undo the studs a bit and tighten the nuts back down.

I was thinking that as well. I took the booster off and took it apart. There's no adjustment in the thru bolts. It's the wrong booster. No big deal. Since I'm in the market for an new booster. I've read that the ZR1 metal booster is compatible and preferable to the plastic. Thoughts?
Update:
I just learned that the ZR1 booster is a 4 bolt firewall mount pattern. A worthwhile upgrade? I would put money on it that it is. Decisions...
I'm not racing but I want it to whoa! extremely well. Is a stock mc & booster adequate for big brakes on all four corners?
I'm finding 5471405 as the part#

I've got the ZR-1 booster mounted in my 94 race car. Just need to drill the four holes. Once you remove the booster the ECM plate can be used as the template.
If you've got lower vacuum due to a camshaft it is worthwhile, as it is a dual diaphragm. With 4 pistons brakes at all 4 wheels, I'm also running the Camaro MC, which requires a small spacer.
So...I bought the OEM booster for my base car. It doesn't work. Everything fit except the rod that connects to the brake pedal is 3/8"-1/2" too short. When I do get it connected (total pita btw), it pulls the pedal away from the brake switch(s) far enough to cause the brake lights to stay on. The car is back together. Is there any adjustment in the rod on the booster? Otherwise, it looks as if I'm gonna have to r&r the booster once again. FML
