Default During engine removal I found this..

I removed the transmission and then the bell housing.
Looked inside the bell housing and found metal shavings???
The back of the clutch looks like it has been rubbing something??
Any ideas to what could be going on here?
Also, do I need to replace the ballstud??
TIA.
Doug

Based on the pic, looks like your clutch fork is rubbing. I've seen them bend on C4s. Replace the fork and the pressure plate.

Usually the ball stud can be reused, but you'll want to look for signs of excessive wear given it's a 35 year old car and you haven't provided information regarding mileage or how it's used.

odometer says 113k. It’s been sitting for 11 years. When I got it the motor has a spun bearing. I don’t know the previous owner and how he drove it. Wish it could tell me the stories.

I does look like the fork is rubbing. Make sure the stud is all the way in where it it is supposed to be - if the locking screw has backed out and allowed the stud to turn and get "taller," it might allow the fork to touch the pressure plate hat like that. Is the locking screw even there any more? I hope you don't need a new ball stud, because last time I looked those were getting hard to find.

In his newer thread he shows the dual mass rotating beyond normal spec. I will venture to guess, everything else is in spec but the dual mass and pressure plate are “floating” back and hitting the fork.
