Sorry to post such a "non-technical" post here, but does anyone know how I would acquire Windows '95 or '98 on floppy disks?
A friend gave me a laptop to use for PCM tuning, but only has Win3.11 (yeah, it's a dinosaur!) and no cd-rom or USB ports for those cool "pen drives", which would allow me to put the cd copy of Win95 I have onto the laptop.
Wow you'll have a fun time finding them......
See if you can find someone with a PC and who has the software and cables to transfer files via the serial cable.. LAPLINK is or at least used to have such a package..
Good luck..
Don't know if it still holds true or not , but up until the last couple of years if you had a purchased copy of Win 95 on disc, Microsoft would send you a copy on floppy if requested. Don't know how many floppies would be required on 98 or even if it was offered. I'm sure some sort of proof of purchase would be needed. Worth a try!
If your interested, I'm doing almost the same project (76--94LT1-4L60e-Steeroids-Vintage Air-Saw Blades). Care to compare notes? :chevy
If memory serves me right there are no files on the Win95a intallation CD that are larger than a single floppy. I think all of the cab files are smaller than 1.44MB. You could format the harddrive, and then copy the files onto it into a Win95 directory and then run setup. Otherwise I would transfer them with laplink and a serial cable.
