Default Brake Booster replacement on 95 question?

I started on the engine bay side, and have everything disconnected, but it looks like I need to remove, or at least loosen the long vertical rod/bracket the ASR mounts to?
It looks like a PIA to remove, and probably harder to reinstall since it mount low and the frame and hard to get to with the M/C in the way, do I need to remove? It seems to impede the movement of the M/C, which needs to move back and over more.
I have read this thread and it was helpful, but I don't see where they say to remove this rod/bracket. I did unbolt the ASR and move it over and back.

Did you disconnected brake pedal? The ASR does have to be moved just pay attention to how you remove it, not a big deal.

I have not worked on the inside yet, just engine bay.
I disconnected ASR from side of car, long mounting rod still sticks up from the frame.

Unbolt Master you can leave it Plumbed in slide off of Booster secure it to the side. Here's where it becomes fun Go under the Dash Remove Knee Pad and Kick Panel, Remove the Bolts that secure the Booster, Remove the Clip that holds booster Rod to Brake Pedal Slide it off (few Choice Words?) Once Unbolted back out front and shake a bit finding the Path Out.

You can leave the long support rod there just remove the top 10mm bolt fron the ASR so you can move it away if you have to. I just replaced the booster on my 96 and I left the rod in place because my nutcert in the frame just spins so the bolt won't come out. But its just another 10mm bolt if you pulled it.

Got it out and put the new one in, will bolt it up and connect everything back tomorrow. Hopefully no issue!

tip- some have difficulty disconnecting the rod from the brake pedal due to the retaining clip.
I turned the clip so it had the open side facing me (down, I was lying on my back underneath the pedals) , and used a flat stuby screw driver and just pushed hard under the clip flange, and it came right off, stuck to the blade.

My recommendation is to use loctite on the 2 attachment points inside. If they loosen up a bit you'll get weird symptoms and have to redo things.
