Default Richmond 6 speed problem

Well the problems with the C4 never end in the Thomas household, although admittedly most are self inflicted . Went to test my 85 last night after a coil over adjustment car came out of 1st gear fine and into reverse fine came out of the driveway and the shifter was hard to pull out of reverse, I could get it in and out of reverse and into neutral but the shifter itself is basically stuck between the neutral position and reverse. since it was late and it took sometime to reverse through the streets to get back to my garage I wasn't able to check much but I did check the clutch and it feels "normal" and has good pressure, my fluid is still full although grossly colored, should I have been lubricating the external shift linkage? The car has been shifting fine even 2 days ago when I went out for gas

Thank you for any help

-Justin

You are having all kinds of fun. LOL. Was shifter "sloppy" prior to this happening? Can you see shifter mechanism from drivers seat? Normally cleaning the then light oiling is a start. Too much lube allows road grime to muck things up. If you can't see mechanism from inside car you will need to be under car while helper operates shifter.

Oh yea, my wife still can't understand why I don't just get a newer Corvette, Hell at this point I'm leaning that way

I'm gonna have to pull the center console first to get a look I imagine it was late last night and after another not fun 12hr shift in the ER I was too swamped to even start on that after messing with those damn coilovers. I'll start on it tonight after my shift and see if I can see or adjust it from the inside first
