Re: I CAN SEE PART # 00000001 !!!!!! (JCAIRE2)
heater cores suck in nearly every car, i changed one in a gen 2 jetta before & spent most of the weekend doing it. the entire dash had to come out on the poor SOB.

I would have to agree on the fact that most heater cores are a regal pain to change. I did have one that was not though. Had a 1988 Ford Ranger with A/C. Had a heater core let go while I was on a trip to a drag race. Changed it trackside in about 15-20 minutes. Surprised everyone around at the time. Now that 79 Mustang that I did... Entire dash was in my lap when the owner showed up. Good Luck Craig

Re: I CAN SEE PART # 00000001 !!!!!! (Marcho Polo)
ouch... at least the 92-96 vintage are a bit easier to get at...
that is seriously ugly.
The easiest heater core I have ever done was in a 1981 F*rd Escort.... took under an hour... but, there was no A/C!!!!!

That sucks! My brother just had to change one in his wifes blazer yesterday.
He had to remove to whole dash in it as well. Not a fun job ever!

Getting ready to do that in the 88.:( Easiest ever, 82 Mustang, it was like sliding a VCR cassette in. Unbolted a plate, slid it in, bolted the plate back. Thats how every car should be.

it wasn't too hard to get to everything, but it's gonna be a pain to get it all back together! I hope I don't forget anything....

BE VERY CAREFUL OF THE SOLDERS A THE PIPE JOINTS. inspect them carefully. Mine broke and I had to do it twice. First time 5 hours. Second time 1 hour 45 minutes.
