Default Dumb question about ignition wires

When you get a box of ignition wires why is there always one that’s not a elbow and it’s a straight what spark plug is it supposed to go on and it’s the worst it never goes on smooth

It is either 5 or 7 on an 84, I forget. Angle boot clearance is tight on both of those plugs with stock manifolds.

That "odd ball" plug wire is for cyl. #6, because of the dip stick interference. There's no clue about what year Corvette you're working with, but the last set I installed on my '84 was the Duralast 4076, and they fit perfect! If you're working with an L98 engine, I think there's one wire that's a different length than mine.

I have an MSD set and I put the straight one on #6 because of the dip stick but I think an angled one would have cleared everything as well.

I saw it right in my head and still wrote it wrong. I was saying to myself as I wrote it: that damn heater box. I am batting 1000 this week.
