I have a 91 L98 with the stock rotating assembly. I still have the stock balancer on it and its currently OK. Thinking I might want to replace it before it breaks. I wanted to know what model everyone was using as a replacement. I know ATI has a good unit but was leaning more towards a fluiddamper. If you know I would like to know what brand and cat# you've used and liked.
I was very happy with a Fluidamper on another, albeit very similar Chevy 350; the issue is whether or not they make one compatible with the Corvette accessory drive (as distinguished from the much more common F Body engines).
On my 96 LT4 there was no Fluidamper available for the corvette; although there were for the LT engines in Firebirds and Camaros. I purchase a ATI damper for that engine, pricey, but seems well made
It appears that the fluid damper due to its design provides better control. Assembly is stock but That’s about it so the engine is putting out more power so I want a good unit.
