Default AC Condenser Brand Recommendation

Anyone know who makes a good AC Condenser? Got a leak from the one we installed last year. OEM is, probably out since nobody has one. Is Spectra a good brand or is it all Private Label made by one company? I have heard both versions. Ecklers has one but not sure who makes it.

Ecklers

Ebay

Spectra

Ebay

TIA

Instead of taking the risk on another new condenser maybe a shop could fix the one that you have a leak in. The basic question here is do you trust a unit that failed after only 1 year in service and fix it or do you just replace it?

TIG welding is not the only way to seal an aluminum condenser, it may be the best if you have the tools and knowledge. I would probably get some silver solder and fix it that way. They make special rods for working with aluminum that allow you to seal holes with a handheld MAP Torch.

Epoxy works well for a lot of shops that fix radiators and condensers. I am sure a good local radiator shop could do something if you wanted to.

I would fix it and pressure test it myself.

Not sure. I had a brief chat with the shop and they said that they could fix it but it probably costs more than what it was worth. Considering it was an eBay company, I'd probably pass on them fixing it unless it is under warranty. Problem is if I fix it, the shop won't warranty the work and I'd have to pay for the AC work. It does look like 2 options are remaining. Either I DIY it all the way or have someone do it. Either way, it has to be all the way. I can't remember who I got it from but it was in the winter and by now, the warranty has expired but as you say, would you trust them again?

Even under warranty, it does take a few hundred bucks to R&R and recharge. THAT is the kicker. I absolutely hate going in again. Supposedly they were better than Spectra Premium and their price reflected it.

Do you know if they are all "Private Label" condensers?
