I saw your post a while back about your shifter having play in it:

Your problem sounds exactly like mine (see my recent post on this forum). Did you ever find out what the problem was?
Does anyone else care to venture a guess what the issue could be? Rearview's post (linked above) describes what I'm seeing perfectly. I'm nearly positive it did not have this play in it when I first got the car almost 4 months & 5,000 miles ago. (It now has 57,000 miles). :confused: :confused:
