Default Air coupler problem solved

Here is how I fixed my air coupler problem. Using the Fitech throttle body made it so I had to split the stock coupler just a bit, then silicone that area to avoid leaks. Naturally that was not acceptable. Last night I was in Menard's and was walking past the plumbing area when I saw an adapter I thought I could use if they had them in the right size. I found the 3 pieces in the picture and the only thing I had to do was cut the plastic piece on the pencil mark, put it inside the two rubber pieces and put it on. That was it. Some of you may not like the way it looks and considering what the pieces I bought are for I guess it could be called a shitty solution but for right at $10. I really don't care. Most importantly, it works. The maf was a bit smaller than the rubber but the rubber compressed with the clamp equally all the way around so no air leaks

Not shitty at all! You are way too modest, a casual glance would make you think it's factory. Good job.

Looks good but keep an eye on that 3" diameter PVC section as high temps can make it melt/deform. I did some hillbilly mods to some cars years ago with PVC sections in the intake tract and the PVC did not hold up more than a few days. Likely not a big issue when you are moving and sucking in cooler air but when it heat soaks after being run hot and then parked, you might run into problems.

You might need to get something like this to be safe vvvvvv

I luv DIY fabrication! If you saved money compared to purchasing an after market one, even better!! Just a small finishing touch suggestion: Trim off the excess on each of the 4 hose clamps so there's only about 1/2" or less extending out, using a strong wire cutter or tin snips. Then remove them and spray paint the silver metal clamps with a satin or flat black paint. If you don't want to remove, you could carefully paint the clamps while in place (after trimming them) with a small brush and can of black satin paint. If you're not in the mood, definitely trim that excess off your clamps if it's the only suggestion you take. It'll look real clean, IMO

I was wondering about that, I'll keep an eye on it. My car does not run hot and the Toledo Pro hood is vented in the rear so I'm hoping it will be fine.

That is exactly what I plan to do, I just wanted to get it together and see if it was going to work. I had the clamps painted on the stock coupler and I agree it looks much cleaner. I would have preferred that I did not have so many clamps but it'll be fine once they are painted.

Actually I was joking about that. Using items meant for drains or sewer applications just seemed right to say that.
