Ok fellas put your thinking cap on. I just recharged my AC system, vette was sitting for 8 years. The system is charged and running well. My issue is the blower motor, its running but at a slow speed no matter what fan speed it's at. No noises coming from the motor, cold air coming out but not as strong as it should be....switch or blowe motor ?
Everything is fine power in and out, blower turning all the speeds are coming on. I'm in the middle of reading a thread on the subject and they says 85 are known to have this issue of blowing very slow. Makes no sense
The resistor is out of the circuit at the HI speed setting, so that has no effect on the blower speed at the HI speed. After sitting so long, the bearings in the motor are probably dry.
With the resistor being 35 years old, I'll replace that first and then move over to a new blower motor...
You can completely unplug the resistor and you'll still have the HI fan speed operational. Try it! If you just want to throw away money, I'll take it! Send me a PM, and I'll give you my address. Think of how much trouble I've saved you by not having to replace that perfectly good resistor.
If you're convinced that the resistor should be replaced because it's 35 years old, your shopping list of other stuff that's 35 years old is immense!!!
