so i got a decked out built up 383 i did this spring cause work slowed down with the virus and i needed something to do. Idc about keeping the car original or keeping the fuel injection, and im sure this thing would blow away the stock 240hp it has. Any suggestions on swapping the motor, and if the carb wont clear the hood, i was thinking maybe cut the hood and put in a bug catcher scoop. I got a couple intake manifolds and carb spacers and what not to play with. Just wondering if anyones done anything like this before and how it turned out
I always think it’s a shame when people put a carby on there cars. There are so many good fuel injection options for a SBC I just don’t see the attraction (and I grew up with Holleys Webers, SUs, Rochesters, Carters, etc). IMHO EFI engines start first time every time and run much better. The other thing I think is a shame is hacking holes in panels because things don’t fit. The designers at GM had a pretty good eye for style, form and function. Sticking a bug catcher on the hood is not my idea of beauty.
But of course that’s just my opinion, it’s your car so you need to be happy.
Unless you are going the Pro Street route I would leave the " Bug Catcher" in the garage. IMO One of the various cowl scoops will.look better. Not the rediculously tall ones for a tunnel ram.
