My 1993 doesn't get driven much. I took it out yesterday for a short drive. Turned the headlights on. I noticed the left light did not rotate to the full up position as quick as the right one.. When it got to full up it made a thumping noise for about 2 seconds. Then when I turned them off at closing and at fully closed it did it again for about 4 to 8 seconds. Any one ever have this happen if so what was the problem. Your help would be greatly appreciated Thanks Ellis...Just a note.. I have not turned the headlights on in this car in many years.
Yes common headlight bushings/pucks have failed, is there possibly a white dust under failed light
review this video to see if this is your problem, this guy did a bronze gear conversion which is a little more expensive than just a puck replacement gears themselves rarely fail but I have seen it so bronze is not a bad road to do while your there.

Mark does an excellent job of showing the repair. It's a 4-part video. It helped me in doing both of mine (same problem and sounds as you).
No need for a bronze gear.
except I don't see a need for the bronze gear. Added expense for questionable benefit. I reused my plastic gears. The pellets are what fail.
Yes I agree!
Your OEM plastic gears should be fine. It was the earlier model year C4's that ran two plastic gears that benefited from bronze replacement gears, not the single plastic gear/headlight system you have in your '93.
