Default Original R12 Freon

My 1989 has all original A/C. The compressor has been throwing oil to the underside of the hood for many years. Actually since day 1. Every other year, I install a can of R12 Freon. But it's getting worse now, there is more & more oil coming from the front compressor seal. Do they still sell original compressors ?
I really don't want to covert to the new freon. I love the way R12 works..

Any compressor will operate with r12 or 134a. The orings and oil need to be removed. You can rebuild or buy a new compressor and recharge.

Also, @Tom400CFI has a full setup ready to drop in too if that interests you instead of repairing.

I converted mine to r134a and a newer parallel flow condenser and its every bit as cold as it was with r12.

My ac system in my ‘89 was a mess until I bought a complete setup from an ‘88 and dropped it in about 10 years ago. The lines were never disconnected and it still had R12. I add a can every few years. Works great. The compressors for these cars are so expensive. I can’t remember who I bought that system from but I’m still grateful as it saved me a couple thousand dollars.

These Denso compressors are easy to reseal and no special tools are required. There are several youtube videos showing how.

That’s a really good deal. Someone should jump on that especially if local.
