Default Rear Brake Issue - '96

First time I've run into this issue. Installing some carbotech XP10's on my rears and they won't fit.

Carbotech says the overall thickness of each pad should be .570" and I measured .581".

Rotors are listed as measuring .785"" THK and measure in on the money.

Spacing between clamping surfaces on the calipers measure in at ~1.800".

(.570" x 2) + .785" = 1.925" > 1.80". So mathematically they won't work and it jives with me being physically unable to install.

Has anyone run into this issue before? I'm ordering a cheap set of pads just to measure the overall thickness. I've been running carbotechs for years and have never had this issue.

Pics of dillema:

Just eyeballing those pads, they look thicker by a good margin compared to anything I have used. What has Carbotech said?

Have you reset the e-brake mechanism? It looks to me like the piston in your caliper is not compressed all the way, which will cause the pads to not fit. There's some debate on whether this reset procedure is necessary, but looking at previous posts, this reset seems to be only necessary if the original pads were very well worn, which causes the e-brake to ratchet to a tighter position, holding the piston in this extended position. Have you explored your FSM for the details on this operation?

Thanks for that, but not the case. Simply ordered the wrong pads. Should be getting the new ones shortly.
