Hi folks, My '85 C4 had a leaking thermostat gasket. When I pulled the TB off and tried to break the bolt loose it of course broke. I pulled the top end apart and have a few questions. #1 intake runner is a bit oily. The rest have a pretty good build up of carbon but no oil residue. The car ran good before I took it apart. I haven't ran a compression test yet but thought I would. see if anyone has had valve seal problems. I did get a puff of smoke when first started. I also have a bunch of carbon in the throttle body and plenum runners. I read one place to look was PCV. I pulled the EGR and it doesn't seem to be working right and a lot of carbon in there.
The car has about 110000 on it. Should I replace the injectors? Recommendations on gasket sets, especially valve covers. I am tired of driving a Chevroleaker!
Next question is what to do with ugly valve covers. paint or replace.
Well i did the injectors, thermostat and vacum lines, it was only gonna be injector but...it is a while i am there kinda thing, just be ready for the usual oh **** moments like the broken bolt, mine where the torx bolts for the fuel lines, and the runner...but when your done your done.....
