I'm a stock type of guy.. You need a scan tool to determine if you're losing the signal from the distributor. Let me check my service manual in the am to see if there's another way to check it.
okay did a couple of test this morning .i read on line how test to see if the optispark is getting signal with out a scanner.first i checked fuel pressure turn key with out cranking .48 psi it held pressure for about 15-20 mins only dropped to between 45-46 psi .of course it fired right up ,this time i let idle until it cut off .i got my test light and touched the wires going to the injectors had wife to crank the car the test light lit up but the car did not crank any more .while the car was running no codes when it cut off .when it would not crank the p1371 code came back
First things first, You need to address the no crank issue. I would disconnect the battery, then check the terminals/wiring to the starter.
There's some power feeds off that terminal that could be your whole problem.
If you have a no crank condition, you need to fix it to determine if the distributor is able to generate a signal. when cranking. If the engine doesn't crank, the distributor doesn't turn. Makes sense?
OK....Can you get to the distributor 4 wire connector? When this finally cuts out, you need to disconnect that connector and check the voltage on the red/black wire going to the ecm.with the key on...not the distributor.end. What voltage reading do you get? Now remember this is AFTER it cuts off.
okay i did a test today the car ran as usual.okay while it was running the red/black had 5.03 volts purple white wire had 5.02 . solid red wire 12.93 .when the car stopped red/black wire 0.239 volts before the plug and after . when i unplugged it back to 5,02 from ecu to the plug where it plugs into the optispark
