I have a 96 c4 get to point I keep going through I.c.m.s I have a new optispark put this last November, new ac delco coil, and new I.C.M . The car runs great for about 5 min then stops running and the code for the I.C.M comes back also with the new I.C.M no code can anybody help me
This is the third one I replaced I put a new one on fire the car you runs great for about 10 minutes while it's running no code. Iet run until it warms up to test drive starts missing then it stops running. The I.C.M. code comes back. Then it will not start anymore ( as soon as I put a new I.C.M on it starts right up no problem.
The ICM's sole responsibility is to trigger the coil. That being said, there;s only two items that could cause repeated module failures....a coil with low primary resistance, or short in the primary coil control line. Just out of curiosity you should measure the resistance of the old and new coils. Did this problem come up after replacing the coil?
i think i still have the old one around some where ,but i only replaced the coil because p03571 came up and the coil had been on the car when it was new.ill go check the Resistance later its hot outside LOL.
okay don.t have garage to hot outside . Got to work in the morning but next weekend ill check the one on the car .i want to thank you for your help and pointing me in thr right direction .
okay i got up this morning checked the coil on the car ohms was 0.03 .charged the battery up the cranked started like nothing was wrong. there is a ac delco down the street from me i checked the ohms on a new one same reading .again about ten mins it ran and shut off .Let me add i changed the optispark in November it was the cheap slandered brand i,m thinking its the optispark . i read that another guy had the same problem .
