anybody seen anything on options for protecting your ECM.
I've got 43k on mine and it seems that high heat is the culprit of damaging the soldier connections.
Hate to replace it AGAIN.
It would help to know your year of car, I'm assuming it's one of the later C4 as mine is in the dash.
Just a swag here, what about some of the heat shielding used in the interior, could it be applied to the surface of the unit similar to what's used inside the car?
If a reputable shop services the ECM it should last another 27 years or longer. The difference between mass production and a technician inspecting every joint.
True, it shouldn't get hot enough to melt soldier! Just wandering if anyone had luck protecting this vital organ.
I've read it to be a common issue with the 92/93 models. Mine only has 42k garage kept. But it is 27 years old. The issues are random and disconnected.
A/C quits working

I get code 1. C41 and 4. ERR code.

The wiring is all good, no corrosion no rust anywhere.
All signs currently point to the ECM.
When i bought my 86, it would warm up, and at the same spot 5 miles down the road, the idle would be 1300 rpm, The dash would go nuts and the mileage Readout would read all 8’s.
changed ecm and all went normal.
try driving with the hood unlocked to promote airflow.
if you see a change, try cleaning out the air path through the radiator area.
