Hey guys new member and first post. I have 96 LT4 and cruise control not working. I have had the car for about a year and a half and the cruise did work when I got it but it always seemed like I had to push the button a few times to get it to work. Now its not working at all. A couple of things if some of you guys could chime in on. 1) When I start car up and and pull the vacuum supply line from cruise servo (smaller line) I don't get any vacuum. Question is should I be getting vacuum at that line with car running and cruise turned on? 2) If I put a meter on the connector to the cruise servo with car running and cruise turned on I get a little over 8 volts at the B terminal and none at any of the other 4 terminals Should I be getting voltage from any other terminals on the connector?
So I originally thought I had a vacuum problem but then when I only saw voltage on the B terminal I thought maybe its an electrical problem. Appreciate if some of you guys could weigh in on issue.
My 96 LT1 cruise quit and it was the vacuum line. The hard plastic had cracked. I just replaced from the manifold to servo and everything now works. I believe you should have vacuum on that line with the engine running no matter if the button is pushed or not. The button does NOT turn on the vacuum. Dan
Hey Whaleman. turns out it was the vacuum check valve located under passenger side fuel rail. The port for the cruise control had busted off. Procured a new one at Advance Auto Parts for less than $5. Works like a champ now!
