Default Installing New Clutch Master Cylinder

Looking for tips on how to install a new clutch master cylinder when you’ve accidentally thrown out the old one Specifically, is simply eyeballing the position of the actuation rod and the pedal OK, or is there a lot more to it? I do have the spacer that goes between the firewall and the MC.

Thanks in advance.

Sometimes the rod is a different length on the aftermarket masters and requires the transfer of the old rod to the new unit.

But it is basic removal & install.

Therein lies the problem. When I tossed the inoperative MC, the rod went with it, so I have nothing to go by. I’m thinking that I’ve read where the rod should be parallel to the ground after it’s installed.
