Default [CORSA] How do they flow???

Has anyone seen flow numbers for the Corsa system? I want to put a high flowing exhaust on my car, but quietness is of a very high importance. I don't want to ruin another car.

I know the turbos will keep the car fairly quiet but I would rather err on the side of caution. I am also looking at doing a custom system with PE capsules

Don't know how they flow, but they are LOUD at WOT from the outside of the car.

I honestly have no clue about Corsa car exhaust sytems but I can tell you this:

I had Corsa Quick and Quiet II exhaust on my boat which is basically just mufflers that go through the transom. They were VERY restrictive. I pulled them off and put straight through tips and yes... it's louder, but I picked up about 2-3 MPH top end which is a lot for a boat from such a simple mod ($175 for the new tips)

The original Corsa mufflers sell for about $400. I sold them used on Ebay for $150 so it really only cost me $25

Just my .02

Judging from the way they are constructed, they are very free flowing. Teh center resonator, you can look straight through, no obstructions, and the same for the inner tips of the muffler, if it wasn't for the bend, you could see right through.

Don't have any numbers though and at idle and cruise, they are very quiet. Even at WOT they aren't very loud if you still have the cats, although I've only heard my car from the inside, so I can't honestly answer that one.

There is no comparason between the two!

The Corsa Corvette system is basicly a strait through system. I can't see how it would be any more restrictive then anyother aftermarket system. Basicly, other than the cats, you have a strait shot out of the car.
I LOVE my corsas!

Just watching a corsa at idle on a cold day makes me not want to buy them. You can stand there and watch one muffler and the only sign of any condensation comes out of one tip. The other one does nothing unless you put your foot over the other one.

Same observation next to a set of flowmasters shows equal distribution. :seeya

That is how the Corsa gets the quiet/LOUD combo to work. Higher exhaust velocity is directed through a different path inside the capsule, so it flows differently through the tips. Any other brand, if loud, is always loud. If quiet is always quiet. I'm sure they have it patented but just the same they won't publish drawings to show how it's done. That would spawn imitators.

I don't want Corsas any way, I like what I have. But there is no way to tone it down.

Scorp,
Only one pipe on the Corsa really flows. The other flow a little but not much. It is however a straight through design. You you would have to see it then you woudl know. If your thinking is that just because one pipe flows that is bad you woudl be wrong. There are no baffles throughout the entire system. It would be the same as installing muffler eliminators but you get a quiet idle and cruise and enough sound to knock over small houses at WOT in my car. No resonance at all and I mean none. I used to have Flowmasters a few years ago and the drone at a certain RPM would make your head almost pop. It was as loud on the inside as it was on the outside! This all a moot point anyway becasue Corsa does not make a system for the 88. You would have to custom fit one on like I did, but I feel it is worth it.

So now people are buying exhaust dependant on whether condensation comes from all tips at idle?

I gained 17 HP at the wheel on my stock (then) 96 LT4...that is all that matters to me.

Corsa's a nice looking setup... but the more I hear them, the more I dislike the sound. Flows or custom setup for me.

Jim, I'm liking them more and more, I was considering going back to eliminators, but I don't know yet, I may just put the Corsa on the '93 and eliminators on the '95.

Go to the northeast gallery and check some of my videos there.
