The simplest way to do the antenna:

1.)remove the trim inside the hatch area(where the hatch latches.)
2.)remove the luggage shade
3.)reach inside the foam and pull out the wires and disconnect(1 plug, and amtenna cable)
4.) jack up car, remove left rear wheel and wheel well
5.)tie a string to the wires and cable and push the rubber grommet out (use a long screwdriver)
6.)disconnect the ground strap from the antenna motor, remove antenna motor.
7.) untie string and tie to new antemnna wires and cables
8.)pull string back through the hole and push rubber grommet back in
9.)install new antenna motor and reinstall ground strap
10.)reconnect wires and cable.
11.)check to make sure it works
12.)put wheelwell and whell back on
13.) push wires back into the foam, reinstall the luggage shade and trim
14.)close hatch, insert ignition key and go cruising(you may want to wash hands first)

Alternative method to remove antenna. (at least on a '91-96)

With this method you don't have to remove the rear wheel and wheel well plastic. I got the antenna out without jacking the car up.

1-Remove the trim panels and the carpet from the rear hatch area. I didn't have to remove the roll-up shade.
2-Remove license plate and back up lamp housings. Gives access to tail light assy bolts.
3-Remove both drivers side tail light housings. The front covers have to come off first (2 torx screws). I believe it's a pair of 3/8" or 10mm nuts that holds each tail light housing in. The inner one is accessed through the lisence plate opening, the outer one is accessed through the inner opening.

You'll be amazed how close the outer tail light opening is to the antenna. You have good access to the mounting screws as well as the hole for the wiring.

4-Unbolt/unscrew everything and lower antenna. This is the only time that I had to get on my back to maneuver the antenna out from the tight space behind the rear wheel well.
5-Put everything back in reverse order.

good luck and have fun,

Steve
