I see lots of guys go with the Vortech SC and ATI intercooler which is a Procharger cooler. Why do you use the Vortech instead of the Procharger for your SC? Also, does it make sense to get the Procharger self contained or the one that oils off the motor? Does the vortech oil off the motor also?
Thanks
Both of these blower are high quality unit. Many opted for Vortech because they have superior customer service over ATI. Over the yrs ATI got many complains and now their customer service and tech support have gotten much better. As for reliability they both are great blowers. To me it make no sense to buy a S trim Vortech for $4500 and buy ATI IC for an additional $1100. For that kind $ you can get the D1-SC unit which will out perform the Vortech S trim any day.

Also running Self contained it better then tapping the oil, because when tapping you oil you are running hot motor oil in your charger and from what i have read studies show you can get more power out of your charger when the charger is not running so hot so running SC can make that little bit more power? Also i never had a problem with ATI Customer Service but maybe i was lucky or something?

You have a much larger oil volume and you have an oil filter. The oil drain is at the bottom of the housing so the supercharger is allways 'empty'. I think that would reduce drag within the gearbox in a similar way that a windage tray and scraper does for the crank. You also don't have to change the supercharger oil separatley.
The downside is that you have to do the extra plumbing. Get oil to the supercharger and drain it back to the oilpan.
oh god, i remember tapping my oil pan that was a night mare trying to get that hole in the oil pan! Thank god that is over with! But yes i agree change the oil and you are done with it. Very easy!
what happens if the supercharger blows up or bearings go out or something... doesn't this stuff get carried to the expensive engine if they share oil?
can you put a filter between the charger and the oilpan to keep this from happening?? or is there not enough pressure on the after the charger side to push the oil thru a filter?
thanks,
Sonny
SC blowing up? wow that would take alot i would think! i know mine is built super tuff! and i blew a seal one time and all it did was blow oil that was it? Took like 1 hr to fix but i routed my oil line wrong and it was not draining so it was my bad not ATI's problem i was lazy on the routing of the line :( but for all i know ATI and Vortech make super tuff chargers! i say if you have the money pick one up! lots of fun and sound cool!
