Default 88 speedo numbers slightly dim

Dash is nice and bright except for the number readout (not the speed graph)
This something I can do my self, or have batee do?

How do you get he headlight switch and panel off without damaging anything, tips?

Hi
most likely one or more of the four backlight globes has failed, batee has some nice LED globes.
Usually means removing the instrument cluster and one of the boards to access, some remove the covers on the front and replace just the globes with a long rubber type tube without removing the dash. Batee has great help pages on his website.

The globes are behind the silver tabs held on by tape, if you want to try replacing the globes without removing the cluster.

Here is a few links to bulb removal tools from an old forum post.

Good luck

Thanks, will watch...does the headlight switch need to be removed first or pulls out along with it?

No, just remove the headlight **** from the shaft. There is a clip you have to pry with a small screwdriver.

As you rotate the headlight know you will notice a notch.
A small screwdriver into that notch will allow removal of the ****.

There is no one I would rather call when having Dashboard issues than Batee.com. He helped me fix my dashboard and sold me the parts I needed to fix my C68 Electronic A/C controller which also likes to fail often.
If you have the C68 in addition I would have him take a look at it as well. My C68 had a long strip connector that had warped and broke the connections on occasion.

Batee will help you with cooler running light bulbs which is very important as the original bulbs made so much heat that they burned the inside of the PC board almost black. The one other item that you should replace is the polarized coating and the Light sensor.

Good Luck but know you are in good hands with Batee.com!
