Default Fuel Pump , Relay , Filter ?? Ignition ??

Hey all, I have a 96’ LT1 thats been running great but today I hopped in the car as it is my daily and got a mile down the road and the car just died. After it died I would try to start it up and it would fire right up and die immediately after like it couldnt hold the fuel pressure.

After pushing the car back home in the rain and calling a few buddies that are at home mechanics like myself we all agreed it could very easily be a fuel filter due to it still starting. Then just a few hours ago I decided to go back and try to start it and now it wont start and making believe its either the relay for the pump(under passenger dash???) or the fuel pump itself.

Is there anything I can try to rule out, any way to check if fuel pump is working w/o guages? Havent really done much except check the fuse which was fine. Figured Id come to the people that are much more knowledgeable than me before I go throwing money at this thing, any help is greatly appreciated.

Do you hear the pump energize when you turn the ignition key forward without starting it? Also go to fuel rail at shrader valve .Push the valve in and see if fuel spurts out . Do this after cranking the engine. If no to both tests it is probably the fuel pump since it is a c4 . It still could be a relay but most likely the pump

Fuel pump failure generally will show itself under hard acceleration at first; it won't be able to keep up pressure and fall on its face when you foor it. It also won't just completely cut the car off. It *could* be a pump but im leaning towards ignition, specifically, more towards opti. Pull codes and look for a hi/low resolution error. Next time it won't start, soray some ether (or flammable brake cleaner) in the intake and see if it runs.

The culprit was the 3 terminal Oil pressure switch.

Yep, it's two terminals on that sw that keep the FP running after the engine starts.

Got a question for you , After I changed that sensor its running terrible. To the point Im scared of driving it, the idle is super low , Im losing oil pressure as soon as I let off the gas. When I stopped at a red light I had to throw it in Neutral and pedal it to keep oil pressure up or else it would have idled
