Default Cold engine cut off

My "88" L98 w/ TPI will crank great but sometimes will cut off completely when it is cold. It will crank back then cut right back off. It will sometimes try to stay running while patting the accelerater. After a few minutes of this it will crank and run perfect. I never have a problem when the engine is warm. It mainly only happens when the outside temperature is 45 degrees and below. Anybody else had this problem? Just wanted to check here before I start trying to troubleshoot it myself.

How does the idle look right before it shuts off?

You might put a pressure gauge on the Schraeder valve to see if the fuel pump is running after it starts. If it is not, replace the oil pressure sender.

However, patting the accelerator makes me also suspect the IAC. You might try cleaning it and the throttle bores.

It never cuts off at a idle. Only when I am driving before it warms up.
