Default Disconnecting battery and affecting computer.

What happens to the computer if you disconnect battery for a long time like 2- 3 months. I thought it needed to re-learn things like idle and WOT tuning etc. Is is true or just myth. I want to know if i should trickle charge my battery over winter or pull the cables and charge it in spring. Are there real temporary drivability issues after diconnecting power? Whats best for car?

I disconnect mine from Dec. to May and I've never had a problem in 5 years. When I start it in the spring it starts and runs like it had been run the day before.

I've always understood that keeping a trickle charge on prolonged battery life. Plus, if you are able, you might want to start it once a month and let it run for a while...turn the AC on! Run it through the gears ( auto tranny) with foot on brake. Seals, etc. dry out from lack of use/lubrication. AC compressors are especially vulnerable, or so I have been brought up to believe :D

I don't know if the 'learned' settings are saved in a non-volatile (does not need constant power) form or not. If these settings require constant power (I think this to be the case), it doesn't matter if the time disconnected is 5 minutes or five months. It will re-learn them.

With the battery its better to leave it on a trickle charge rather than charge it once in the spring.
