I'm looking at a 90 auto coupe, approx 110,000 miles. Decent body, paint and very clean interior, recent tires. Several months ago it blew a head gasket. Owner had both heads checked and new gaskets installed. As happens, enough coolant got in the oil to damage the bearings. I'm considering an ATK High Performance SP04 short block from Summit, swapping over everything including the factory roller cam (if its still good) from the original engine. Feedback from anyone that has used this engine would be appreciated.
They are a very large rebuilder ;pretty sure they used to do GMs remans.
No personal experience only read about others.
Brandon of ATK used to post on this board not sure if he still does
Gm has a fewoptions of 350 and 383 shortblocks for pretty reasonable $.
Id go there as they are all new before a rebuild job
I’m currently putting a blueprint engines LT1 in mine. Looked at ATK, however i found quite a bit of negative feedback. Blueprint has had some issues with mine (knock sensor hole tapped incorrectly, cylinder head steam port bolt hole stripped), but the feedback from others looked encouraging.
