Default Replacement knock sensor pigtail - source and can i splice?

One of my knock sensor wires got burnt on a header.

does anyone have a source for a replacement knock sensor pigtail ?

I plan on using a posi-lock twist connector to splice the wires together (the new pigtail to the old)

sound plan ?

does anyone have a source For a replacement knock sensor pigtail (preferably ac delco)?

Purdy sure that's something you can get from the HELP/Dorman section and CTS looks the same. PO had spliced in a new one and what I didn't care for is that the wire is white unlike the factory DK BLU. I soldered and covered mine with heat shrink after I learned that it was spliced into the coolant temp sensor on the head! DK GRN handled with some greasy hands...they all look the same to me!!! Had to go far up into the harness to verify the wire color.

Rockauto has them. I’d imagine you could get it at a local parts store too.

Thank you.

so no special issues
(ex. Ive read where o2 sensor wires should never be spliced by soldering - only posi-lock connector)

If that's true...well I didn't know any better. PO used a crimp connector. As far as issues, too soon to tell as my tune needs work. I haven't dialed the tune above 4000 rpms and upper MAP. Don't drive it enough.

crimp connector also ok. Sometimes its difficult to get the crimper up there.

You dont have the problem with posi lock connectors

I have a new Wide band O2 for my C3 and in the instructions they tell you that if you need to that you CAN shorten or extend the wires from the sensor The signal from an O2 is between 0.1 and 0.9 Vdc so you want the best connection possible without adding any resistance.

Using a crimper properly is above some peoples heads it seems. I have seen so many poorly attached crimp on connectors. I am a BIG believer in the Posi Locks as they are tough to get to come loose if done properly. On my ignition wires that are Posi Locked I put heat shrink on top of the connection. I have a couple assortments of Posi Lock connectors of all sizes and shapes. I have never had a bad connection with a Posi Lock where I have sen dozens of bad crimps over the years.

Heat Shrink is Great Stuff and I use a lot of it. Plain old heat shrink just shrinks tight. Marine Heat Shrink has a temperature activated glue that seals the connection even better. I keep several diameters of Marine Heat Shrink in various colors to make life easier. The Marine grade is much better choice on my 1968 Convertible C3.
