Default Pilot bushing recommendation

From what I’ve read it’s preferred to go with a bushing rather than a needle bearing. Is there a specific bushing brand/design preferred?

Just realized my new motor does not have one and will need to order.

IDK why people prefer the bushing...My preference is the needle bearing.

For bronze, I doubt any one brand is better than another. Get one from a local auto parts store and you should be fine.

my 2007 z06 came from the factory with a roller bushing and it was a biotch to get out. a real heavy duty unit.

From what I can tell my factory piece is a bushing? I’ll snap a picture and post later

My FSM calls it out as a bearing, however the OEM crank bearing looks to be a bronze bushing. Picture below:

That is a bronze bushing, for sure.

Use which ever suits your fancy.

That is the GM fluted bronze bushing, which I believe they call "oilite" because it's self-lubricating. The part # is CT1088. This is what seems to have come stock in the LT1 and LT4. I'm no expert, but this is what was recommended to me by Jim Jandik of PowerTorque Solutions, one of two ZF/clutch gurus. I know the previous owner of my car had installed a roller bearing instead, and it came out in pieces. That's just one case rather than a body of proof, of course. But your bearing still looks great so I see no reason to go with anything different.

If you do go with a bushing make sure it's a good one. A magnet should not stick to it. A lot of cheap bearings have a high iron content that will wear your input shaft.

Just ordered it, thanks. My local parts store said they could not get the Delco version.

for install, tap it in with a matching socket size diameter?

I like to put it in the freezer over night. Makes it go in a bit easier.
